Questions we
get asked

Short answers about the LENSE and Lense Connect modules. If yours isn't here, ask us and we'll reply directly.

The ecosystem

What are LENSE and Lense Connect?

They are one ecosystem of modules for temporary traffic management. The LENSE modules give you one live view of the scheme: cameras, incidents, recovery, live analytics and documents. The Lense Connect modules feed every piece of kit into that view, using smart tags on any equipment you want data from.

Who is it for?

Everyone working on a scheme: Tier 1 contractors, traffic management companies, control rooms, recovery operators, CCTV suppliers and clients. Each one signs in and sees what is relevant to them.

What is live today?

Every LENSE and Lense Connect module shown on the home page is live today.

Who can see our scheme's information?

Only the people you'd expect. Clients, recovery operators and CCTV suppliers each have their own portal and see what is relevant to them. Every login and action is kept in an audit trail.

How is CCTV footage kept secure?

Footage is encrypted at upload, in storage and on download, and is handled in a GDPR compliant way throughout.

Are the analytics live?

Yes. All LENSE analytics are live, so you see what is happening on the scheme as it happens. Daily, weekly and monthly reports also build themselves, and you can export them to PDF, Excel or CSV.

What is the Incursion Hub?

Every incursion is logged in LENSE as it happens: where, when, what came through and what the crew did. Live reporting and analytics show patterns across all your schemes, so you can act on the hotspots.

What does Live SOS do?

Someone wearing a bodycam presses the SOS button. Live video, audio and their exact location come straight through to our hub, with two-way audio between the wearer, the hub and the site teams.

Lense Connect modules

What can be tagged?

Any equipment you want data from. Signs, cones, lamps and signals are the usual start, but tags can go on barriers, plant, gates and anything else you need to keep track of.

What does a tag tell us?

First, that the equipment is there, live, all the time. Then it raises an alert the moment the item is knocked over, moved, removed or struck, or when a gate is breached. It also warns you when a tag has gone quiet or its battery is running low.

Will the wind set off false alarms?

No. Smart wind filtering tells a sign rocking in the wind from one that has actually gone over, so the alerts you get are real.

How do alerts reach people?

Alerts appear on the live site map on the dashboard, and on the Lense Connect phone app, which sounds an alarm when an alert needs action, even on a locked phone. Each role gets the alerts it needs to act on, and anything not acknowledged is escalated up the chain.

How does a drive-through check work?

Drive the site with the app open. Every tagged item is checked against your planned layout and marked as OK, in the wrong position, missing or not driven, and a PDF report is made for you.

How do incursion alerts work?

The moment a vehicle breaches the works, Lense Connect sends a warning straight to crew phones and wearables so everyone on site can get clear. Each incursion also feeds into the LENSE Incursion Hub, so it is logged and reported automatically.

How does it protect the workforce?

As well as incursion alerts, any operative can press the lookout button to warn the whole team, and personal SOS goes to supervisors with the operative's name, location and time.

Can it track our stock?

Yes. Depot stock control shows what is in the yard, which van it is loaded on, which scheme it went to and when it came back, with van load lists and a missing list.

Which phones does the app work on?

The Lense Connect app is available for Android phones. Tags are fitted and registered from the app, and you can upload your planned layout in minutes.

What is the Record?

A tamper-proof, time-stamped log of what happened on site. Each entry is sealed to the one before, so nothing can be edited or deleted, and you can prove it.
